On Monday 11 October, a BBCR staff member advised us that they had tested positive to COVID-19. The staff member has an office-based role and fortunately did not have direct contact with any BBCR consumers or participants while infectious. 

On receiving the notice of this positive case we immediately notified the Public Health Unit and have been acting in accordance with their advice.  All BBCR staff who had contact with the COVID-positive case were advised to immediately isolate and get tested, resulting in a second office-worker testing positive. Other than the two positive (office-worker) cases, all other workers have returned a negative test result and will continue their periods of isolation in accordance with current health orders. 

Fortunately, our affected care workers have all returned a negative test result; however, as a precautionary measure we have been in touch with a small number of our consumers who received services from close contacts of our COVID-positive office staff to advise them of the situation; suggest that they get tested; and to offer any assistance that they may need. 

The safety and wellbeing of our staff, consumers, their families, carers and community members is our highest priority. We have always ensured our workers are well equipped to provide safe supports and services within a COVID environment, and will continue to do so as restrictions ease.
