Shoalhaven Neighbour Aid Service

Shoalhaven Neighbour Aid is a service provided to assist older people and frail older people and their carers to live in their own homes safely and independently. Sometimes people feel isolated in our community and may become confined to their own homes, this is where Neighbour Aid can assist.

Neighbour Aid’s primarily role is to coordinate a volunteer home visiting service. The friendly visitors provide people with companionship and an opportunity to socialise. Visitors offer support by assisting with reading correspondence, letter writing, having a chat, and minor household tasks. They can also assist with access to the community via social outings such as, going to a café, going to the movies, shopping, banking, etc.

Visits are normally two to three hours per week Tuesday to Friday, morning or afternoon.

Our programs are designed by qualified paid staff and implemented with the assistance of trained volunteers.

Social Support Dementia Monitoring Program

This is an extension of our current Neighbour Aid Service funded by The Department of Ageing Disability and Homecare. The purpose of the service is to provide monitoring for care recipients presenting with early stage dementia.

This includes monitoring health and wellbeing, self-management of medications, review and reassessment, and assistance with planning daily activities.

For more information, please contact Deborah or Maree at the Aged Care Office.
